Griffith Panthers Varsity took home a 7-2 victory over Kankakee Valley on Tuesday.
Kankakee Valley got on the board in the first inning when Caden Vanderhere singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
Griffith Panthers pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Matt Jovanovich singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run and Chris Olsen singled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.
Griffith Panthers scored three runs in the fifth inning. Olsen and Drew Vrska each had RBIs in the big inning.
Mike Alvarado earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Griffith Panthers. The fireballer surrendered zero runs on zero hits over three innings, striking out six. Nathan Feliciano threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Max Hunter took the loss for Kankakee Valley. The pitcher went three innings, allowing three runs on two hits and striking out three.
Ian Clark started the game for Griffith Panthers. Clark lasted two innings, allowing four hits and two runs while walking zero.
Griffith Panthers racked up six hits. Olsen and Jovanovich all managed multiple hits for Griffith Panthers Varsity. Jovanovich and Olsen each managed two hits to lead Griffith Panthers. Griffith Panthers was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error.
